The Maryland State Board of Education has selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to lead the national search for the next State Superintendent of Schools.
The firm, based in Schaumburg, IL, begins its work immediately. The $53,426 contract covers work through the selection of a new State Superintendent.
Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates has led approximately 1,000 searches over the past 20 years. It has been involved in a number of superintendent searches in Maryland.
Former State Superintendent Lillian M. Lowery left Maryland last September to lead FutureReady Columbus, an Ohio-based education nonprofit. Dr. Jack Smith, Maryland’s Chief Academic Officer for more than two years, has been serving as Interim State Superintendent since Dr. Lowery resignation. The State Board in November issued its request for proposals for a firm to assist in the search for the next State Superintendent.
