6 p.m.  City Year Program, Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture, 830 E. Pratt Street, Baltimore, 21202
Dr. Lowery will join Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and other leaders to learn more about the potential to launch a City Year program in Baltimore to help keep students engaged and on track to graduate college and career-ready.


Thursday, April 10
5 p.m. – Calvert County Schools Employee Recognition, Rod N’ Reel Restaurant, 4165 Mears Avenue, Chesapeake Beach, MD  20732
Dr. Lowery will take part in the recognition of the Calvert County’s Teacher of the Year and the Support Staff Member of the Year announcement to be made jointly by the Calvert County Public Schools and the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce.


Friday, April 11
9 a.m. – Teachers of Promise Institute, BWI Hilton, 1739 Nursery Road, Linthicum, MD 21090
Dr. Lowery will participate in MSDE’s annual Teachers of Promise program.  The Maryland Teachers of Promise Program capitalizes on the expertise of Teachers of the Year and other award-winning teachers by matching them with the most promising pre-service graduating seniors from Maryland colleges and universities to mentor during the spring and summer transition periods until the new teachers are placed in their schools.

6 p.m. – Fireside Chat, Howard University, Gallery Lounge in the Blackburn University Center, 2441 4th Street, NW, Washington, DC  20059
Dr. Lowery will address student and graduate student leaders in education about trends in educational policy and practice.
