The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 20, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore.  The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the State Board room, and is scheduled to run for a half day.  Items on this month’s agenda include the following: 

9:10 a.m.          Maryland Association of Student Councils Update
The State Board will hear an update on the activities and programs conducted by the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) during the 2013-14 school year.  The new president of MASC for the 2014-15 school year will be introduced.

9:25 a.m.          Race to the Top Update
The State Board will hear the monthly report on progress being made in Maryland’s 54 Race to the Top projects. 

11:15 a.m.        Teachers of the Year
The State Board will welcome Maryland’s newly named 2014-15 Teachers of the Year from the State’s 24 local school systems.  The next Maryland Teacher of the Year will be selected in the fall from this outstanding pool of educators.
