Baltimore, MD (June 17, 2014)

Nearly 100 school safety leaders from across the State will come together this week to learn the latest strategies for improving school security and maintaining constructive learning environments. 

The Maryland Center for School Safety is hosting its first conference, “Building Effective Partnerships for School Safety,” this Thursday and Friday in Annapolis.  Safety experts, school security directors, and school resource officers will study a variety of issues including how best to handle critical emergencies, the unique challenges of special needs students, and the best methods to create a positive school climate.

Participants will be briefed on real-world school incidents and how best to partner with law enforcement to keep children and educators out of harm’s way.

WHAT:  Maryland Center for School Safety Conference: “Building Effective Partnerships for School Safety”

WHO:   Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Lillian Lowery will kick off the conference on Thursday morning.
