Public Notice: Informal Discussion on Parental Consent and Burden of Proof in Due Process Hearings

The Maryland State Department of Education is convening stakeholders from the special education community to share their thoughts on the issues of parental consent and burden of proof in due process hearings. The public is welcome to attend to hear the informal discussion.

Additionally, the workgroup is pleased to receive oral public comment from 2:30-3pm on August 24, 2016. Please register to speak with Carmen Brown via email at carmen.brown1@maryland.gov at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be limited to three (3) minutes per public comment. Appropriate accommodations for individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request. To allow time to arrange accommodations, please provide notice eight (8) business days prior to the meeting. Individuals who are not able to attend are welcome to submit written comments for the discussion group to review.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) located at 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201 in conference room #2 on the 8th floor.
