What are my options if I am not highly qualified?
I am an early childhood teacher or elementary teacher who earned my Maryland certificate prior to the testing requirement implemented in 1987, and I do not have an Advanced Professional Certificate (APC).
Option 1: Meet requirements for APC
Option 2: Take and pass the Praxis II in Elementary Education (Test #0014)
Option 3: Take and pass the revised Praxis II in ECE when it is developed
Option 4: Complete Maryland’s HOUSSE
I am a teacher who earned Maryland certification through reciprocity with another state that did not require testing as mandated by NCLB.
