Bay View Elementary School is the second home to the students in Sallie Christian's first grade class. As a highly qualified teacher, Mrs. Christian believes that children need to feel secure and respected in the classroom. Not only does she expect them to learn, she wants them to enjoy learning. As a School Improvement Team member, Mrs. Christian works with kindergarten and first grade teachers to review student performance. The team collaborates to identify areas of deficit and discuss strategies for improvement. Mrs. Christian is a member of the Steering Committee for the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education. She assists the Committee with monitoring the progress of special needs students in the school, while addressing the learning needs of all students in her classroom.
